2020年8月，五新村以茶叶入选首批「广东省“一村一品、一镇一业”专业村」。[1] 2016年7月，五新村被认定为「第六批全国一村一品示范村镇」，产业同为茶叶。[1] 2023年5月，五新村获评「2022年广东省卫生村」。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

1972年前属五经富人民公社，大洋人民公社成立那年定名五新村。此前称五联村，设五联大队；1978年起称五新公社，1983年改设五新乡，1986年起称五新村委会，1999年定名五新村民委员会。[1]
