玉步村在桂岭镇南部，位于南柏公路沿线，距集镇区1.5公里。[1][2]

博雅地名网记村域面积1.39平方千米，总人口4080人、856户，未注明年份。[1]

经济[edit]

毛织加工是村里的主要产业。村里较早引进雨伞、蚊帐制造，几家规模较大的蚊帐厂产品销往全国各地，成为村民收入的主要来源。耕地近1150亩。2009年，村民人均收入4779元，全村工农业产值则为5748万元。[2]

2008年，外出乡贤捐资，村里也出资，新建玉步小学教学楼，并将村中主道铺上水泥路面、配上路灯。[2]

历史沿革[edit]

1949年前后，此地是揭阳磐西区联北乡的一部分，1958年归磐西公社联北大队。1983年，此地称桂岭区联北乡玉步大队，1986年起设玉步村委会，直到今天。[2]

玉步村曾由广东省爱国卫生运动委员会授予「第一批广东省卫生村」称号，时间为2017年10月。2019年9月，村子进入2018年「广东省民主法治示范村（社区）创建单位」名单。[1]
