福岗村在桂岭镇南部的半山区，南面与霖磐镇接壤，紧邻揭普高速与省道335线，南柏公路穿村而过。村舍依山而建，四周环绕鱼塘，当地有「住山厝、做洋田」之说。[1][2]

村里投资近200万元引入市第二水厂的自来水，并设置文体活动中心与警务室，改建公厕，修起连接各自然村围的水泥路。[2]

历史沿革[edit]

福岗村始建于明万历年间。民国时期隶属揭阳磐西区，1949年后归联北乡管辖；1958年为揭阳磐西公社联北大队下的福岗村；1983年改称桂岭区福岗乡；1986年设立福岗村委会，沿用至今。[2]
