白塔镇是广东省揭阳市揭东区下辖的镇，位于揭东西部，地处揭东、揭西、丰顺、普宁三县一市的交界处。[2][6]

全镇辖1个社区和18个行政村，以农业为主，淡水养殖、菱角、草菇等特色产业近年发展较快，镇里提出「农旅融合、生态白塔」的发展思路。[2][5]

历史沿革[edit]

白塔的得名与境内的玉塔有关：玉塔又被称作白塔，镇政府驻地也设在这里，镇名由此而来。[2]

自揭阳置县起，这一带即属揭阳县管辖。明清时期属揭阳县霖田都，1938年改属揭阳县第三区蛟龙乡，1949年划入卅岭区。1957年撤区改乡，设白塔乡；1958年11月组建馨岭公社，统辖包括白塔、龙尾在内的四个镇；1959年另设白塔公社，管辖今白塔、龙尾两镇；1965年与龙尾公社分立后，白塔的辖境才确定下来。[4]

1983年改称白塔区，1987年3月改为镇，1991年12月划归揭东县。2012年揭东撤县设区，白塔镇仍是揭东区下辖的十一个镇之一。[1][4]

地理环境[edit]

据博雅地名网所载，全镇面积约61.3平方千米，耕地35359亩，山地23035亩，未注明统计年份。省道揭陆公路穿镇而过，揭丰、白洪、白棉三条公路在境内与之相接。[2][3]

人口[edit]

在第七次全国人口普查中，全镇人口约9.19万人，在揭东区各街道、乡镇中居第三位。[2]

经济[edit]

农业总产值为22247万元，工业总产值为16.87亿元，两项数字均为2005年的统计。[3]

镇里以农业为主，近年着力培育的特色产业有淡水养殖、菠萝、肉鸽、菱角、狮头鹅、酱油和草菇等。草菇种植主要依托塔北村一家农业公司，菱角则集中在桐联村东浦经济合作社一带。[5]

2020年9月、2021年10月和2022年10月，阿里研究院公布的淘宝镇名单（2021年一次与南京大学空间规划研究中心联合发布）都列有白塔镇。[2]

名胜古迹[edit]

望天湖生态旅游度假区位于镇内，距揭阳市区约20公里，为国家4A级旅游景区。首期建有十二个项目，包括花的世界、蝴蝶园、鸿雁岛和度假酒店等。[7]

大盘岭墓群位于洪陂村大盘岭。1985年清理了两座土坑墓，随葬品共十件，有陶器、石器，另有贝玦，属「浮滨文化」遗存。[8]
