月城镇是广东省揭阳市揭东区下辖的镇，位于揭东西部，毗邻揭阳市区，榕江南河与北河分别流经镇境南北两侧。[1][2]

镇名的来历见于地方记载：相传李氏族人于元致和元年（1328年）在此立村，至明永乐年间，村民沿江中七处深潭的岸边砌起环形寨墙，取“七星伴月”之意，村名因此称为月城。[2]

历史沿革[edit]

清代，月城一带属揭阳县磐溪都。民国以前，蔺下、菠头围扫两地原属震田都，其余境域一直归磐溪都管辖。民国十年（1921年）前后，都改为区，磐溪都成为第八区。[4]

揭阳县于1949年10月19日解放，随后设立势东区，月城境域归其管辖；1957年起称警东乡，1958年9月转为蓉东公社。[4]

1975年1月1日，月城公社设立，由磐东公社划出14个大队、28个自然村组成。1983年10月公社改为区，1987年3月月城区改为镇，辖属区划未变。1991年12月，全镇划归揭东县。[4][1]

地理环境[edit]

镇境地势平坦，三面环水，北面紧邻榕江北河，南面是榕江南河。[1]

省道揭陆线横贯东西，县道英篮公路纵贯南北，揭普、汕梅两条高速公路的出入口靠近镇境西北，交通条件较好。[3]

人口民族[edit]

第七次全国人口普查结果显示，全镇人口约4.85万人，在揭东区各街道乡镇中排第12位。[2]

经济[edit]

镇内工业以不锈钢餐具、玩具、制帽、牙签等行业为支柱，产品多数出口。2018年的统计显示，全镇工业企业202家，其中规模以上的有22家。[3][1]

农业以蔬菜、池鱼和珍禽养殖为主。2005年，工业总产值为3.48亿元，农业总产值为9453万元。[3]

阿里研究院先后将月城镇列入淘宝镇：2020年9月公布「2020年淘宝镇」，2021年10月与南京大学空间规划研究中心联合发布「2021年淘宝镇」，2022年10月公布「2022年淘宝镇」。[2]

文化[edit]

月城镇是有名的侨乡，旅居海外的侨胞约1.8万人。[3]

2024年3月，月城镇被命名为「2023年广东省卫生乡镇」。[2]
