东寮村位于玉湖镇东部，处于榕江北河中游北岸，以东寮芋头驰名。村子所在的盆地被群山环绕，村中所产芋头已有三百多年的种植历史。[1][2][3]

历史沿革[edit]

据村中资料记载，清康熙十七年（1678年）前后，许姓先人德裕公携两个儿子由揭阳潮临迁来避难，在村东北面搭寮定居，村名因此得来。全村至今仍以许姓为主。[1][2]

新中国成立初期村子属东联乡。1959年改为东和大队，1984年又设东寮乡，1986年设立东寮村委会。[1]

地理环境[edit]

东寮村的西侧有广梅汕铁路与汕梅高速公路横穿而过，并设有铁路玉湖客运站和货运站。村子还可借助周边山地的条件，开发大湖山一带的旅游资源。[2]

经济[edit]

博雅地名网所载，村中耕地有1666.9亩，居民共1449户、6227人，资料年份未注明。村里农业以槟榔芋头、韭菜花、龙眼、荔枝和橄榄为主，芋头已通过无公害产品认证。[2]

2023年11月，东寮村入选「广东“百千万工程”首批典型县镇村」。[1]2024年政府工作报告把东寮村列为玉湖镇重点打造的7个示范村、典型村之一。[4]

在广东省2018年「民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单中，东寮村于2019年9月上榜。2020年9月、2021年10月和2022年10月，东寮村三次列入阿里研究院的淘宝村名单。[1]
