五房村是新亨镇下辖的山区行政村，位于潮安区、揭东区与丰顺县交界处，村民以廖姓为主，以客家方言为主要方言。博雅地名网载全村总人口7145人、1549户。[1][3]

历史沿革[edit]

村子1651年始建，此后直至1984年一直归揭阳管辖。潮揭丰边人民行政委员会的成立地点在村内廖氏宗祠，时为1949年1月。[3][1]

红色遗存[edit]

1999年，在老战士的倡导和各级党政的支持下，村内建成烈士英雄纪念碑。2008年，五房村被列为市爱国主义教育基地。[1]

潮揭丰边革命烈士纪念碑立在寨龙山上，碑址占地6800平方米左右，划定保护的范围有15000平方米。[1]

产业[edit]

村里以茶叶种植为主，茶园面积达2万余亩，同时产竹笋、青橄榄和龙眼。博雅地名网载山地41391亩、耕地1837亩，村民约六成外出深圳、东莞经商或种菜。[1][2][3]

荣誉[edit]

2019年9月，五房村列入「2018年广东省民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单。2021年9月，村入选广东省农业农村厅公布的第二批「广东省一村一品、一镇一业」专业村名单（茶叶）。[1][3]
