棋盘村位于云路镇北侧的山区，是革命老区村，村下分棋盘、棋岽、新村和新堂下四个经联社。[1]

产业与生态[edit]

村民利用山地和旱地种植龙眼、荔枝、竹笋等经济作物，已逐步形成规模化的水果生产。林业方面注重造林绿化，村内有生态公益林。[1]

名胜古迹[edit]

凤隐岩寺是村内的旅游胜地，揭东县政府批准将其列入文物保护登记。境内另有凤泉、无底古洞、群英石林等景致。[2]

历史沿革[edit]

村落始建于明嘉靖年间。清代属梅岗都，1959年撤乡后自立生产大队。1983年后改属云路区，建制称棋盘乡；1986年村委会设立，沿用至今。[1]

荣誉[edit]

2019年9月，村入选「2018年广东省民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单。[1]
