村子在揭东县城以北，东侧靠近曲埔路，西邻路篦村，村域面积0.245平方千米。村庄原名卢篦村。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

村庄创于清康熙年间，原名卢篦村。先祖原居附近的一处村落，子孙繁衍后另选吉地建村。2008年分设新篦村委会，沿用至今。[1][2]

人口与经济[edit]

村民旧时交通不便、生活困难，多远赴南洋谋生。揭东县城设立后，村里引导村民转向商业等非农产业，发展经济。[2]
