历史沿革[edit]
据传元朝至顺元年（1330年），黄姓先祖自福建来到此地谋生，登上虎岗山，见这里可耕可牧，便开辟村寨，村名取登上虎岗山之意，称登岗村，后来镇名也由此而来。[4][5]
宋元明清时期，登岗一带隶属揭阳县桃山都。清同治六年（1866年）设公局，今登岗镇为其中一局。[5][6]
解放初期，揭阳设立桃地区人民政府，地都、砲台与登岗同属其辖。1961年，登岗公社自砲台公社分出；1984年改设登岗区公所，1986年11月区制撤销，改设镇。[6]
1991年，揭阳县撤县设市，另设揭东县，登岗镇属揭东县。2012年12月17日，国务院下文批准揭阳市行政区划调整，登岗镇自此由揭东县改属榕城区。[2][6]
地理与交通[edit]
登岗镇地处榕城区东北部。据博雅地名网，全镇距揭阳、汕头、潮州三市各约20公里。炮登浮公路与玉登沙公路在镇内交汇，镇内有揭阳潮汕国际机场。[4][5]
