炮台镇位于揭阳市榕城区东南部，镇内有家纺、服装和小商品等专业市场，镇域南部与地都镇接壤。[1][3]

历史沿革[edit]

明清时期，炮台属揭阳县桃山都，是县治九都之一。1949年炮台解放后，此地一度称桃山地区，1951年编为第十七区；1953年又与第十九区（登岗）合并，改称炮台区。此后经历改乡、并社、分社，1984年重新设为炮台区，1986年改设镇。[2]

1991年揭阳撤县设市，炮台镇改隶揭东县，百度百科载当年12月即划归揭东县。2012年12月，原揭东县的炮台镇改归榕城区管辖。[1][2]

地理环境[edit]

镇域东部是大桑浦山，北部有炮楼山、虎岗山和狮山。西南以榕江与潮阳区关埠镇相望，西侧隔北河与渔湖镇相对，西北侧隔枫江与曲溪街道相对；北侧与云路、玉滘两镇相接，东北角与登岗镇相邻。[1][3]

镇域总面积52.49平方千米，其中镇区面积3.79平方千米（2020年国土变更调查成果）。[3]

人口[edit]

第七次全国人口普查显示，2020年末全镇常住居民为11.61万，城镇化率52.06%。第六次普查时的常住人口为11.44万。[3]

经济[edit]

镇内规模以上工业企业有63家，工业企业共105家（统计时点为2019年末）。[1]

规划提出，制造业以石材加工和轮胎模具为重点，家纺产业则与新市的小商品市场和「砲台服装市场」一并整合，形成家纺服装产业区。榕江航运也被纳入规划，拟将红东码头旧厂房改造为粤东榕江综合内贸港区码头。[3]

商贸方面，规划要振兴「百年商埠」，以砲台综合市场为中心，联动鱼鲜街骑楼老街、砲台大剧院等，发展消费服务和电子商务。[3]

《总体规划》（2021—2035年）将全镇定位为「宜居宜业宜游的商贸产业重镇」和「临空临港综合服务中心镇」，并借助国道G206线沿线的工业走廊，以及临空、临港两个产业园谋求发展。[3]

名胜古迹[edit]

风门古径在石牌社区东南约5公里处，位于桑浦山将军峰与二尖峰之间的峡谷，乾隆《揭阳县志》记其为潮州府通往揭阳县的要道。现存风门古庙始建于宋代，现庙宇为清代花岗岩重建；庙前有三门四柱石牌坊，坊额「风门古径」为清末进士曾习经题写；庙旁古榕树龄逾600年。该处为县级文物保护单位，2011年被评为揭阳新八景之一「桑浦胜景」。[4]

双溪明月在镇西南，是榕江与北河交汇处的双溪嘴，为「揭阳古八景」之一。两河汇合处江面开阔，中秋涨潮时月影随水流折射，形成双月映江的景观。明代曾在江中填入七星石以防倭寇。今建有双溪明月公园。[5][3]

苏六娘故居在镇东北部，距镇区约2里，为明代中期的遗址，村南存有古建筑住宅。明弘治年间，苏员外之女苏六娘反抗包办婚姻，与表兄私定终身，其故事被改编为潮剧《苏六娘》。2011年，故居已被揭东县列为重点文物保护单位，2016年修缮一新。苏六娘传说于2012年进入广东省非物质文化遗产名录。[6]
