历史沿革[edit]
据博雅地名网，社区的袁氏二世祖袁熙是揭阳县的首位进士，此后科第兴盛，登进士者众，社区因此有「榕江之滨进士村」之称。[1]
据百度百科，袁熙于宋哲宗绍圣年间在渔湖落脚；元代先建起积庆堂祖厅，之后逐渐成为家庙。[2]
关于家庙始建的时间，百度百科记有三种说法，分别是泰定年间、元至顺年间（1330～1333年）与元至元年间（1264～1294年）。清康熙五十一年（1712年）扩建后，家庙成为三进两天井加一座拜亭的格局。[2]
社区于2006年获广东省生态示范村称号，2012年6月列入第三批广东省历史文化名村名单（维基百科载）。[1][3]2016年10月，该社区经农业部推荐，入选美丽休闲乡村名单；2019年6月，它列入第五批中国传统村落名录。[5]维基百科则称该村2012年入选首批中国传统村落，与博雅地名网所载不同。[4]
地理环境[edit]
社区面积1800亩，三面环水，有3.4公里河岸线和2.5公里内河水系。社区靠近望江北路、渔湖码头和莲花大道。[1]
人口与经济[edit]
全社区人口4064人，党员96名（未注年份）。居民以香蕉种植、外出务工、捕捞和鱼塘养殖为生，香蕉种植面积占全社区的99%，种植面积700多亩。2009年社区人均纯收入4034元。[1]
名胜古迹[edit]
社区内现有元明清时代的古建筑近10万平方米，有300年以上的古榕10多棵，文物保护单位1处，其中以袁氏家庙最具代表性。袁氏家庙的大门为五开间，中厅前设拜亭。[1][2]
