渔湖街道位于广东省揭阳市榕城区东部，处在榕江南河与北河的夹角上，三面环水。2021年，渔湖镇撤镇改设渔湖街道，辖区内以水稻、香蕉等农业和工业为主。[1][3][4]
渔湖的名字来自旧时的水乡景致：两条榕江支流挟带的泥沙在此淤成滩洲，溪涧湖泊纵横交错，渔民多聚居于此捕鱼。[5]
历史沿革[edit]
此地在1563年为揭阳县九都的一部分，当时揭阳县下设二乡与九都。清代的建置仍循明代旧制。[4]民国时期，1926年废都改区，官溪与渔湖并为第七区；1938年，官溪、磐溪与渔湖又合成第一区。[4]
渔湖于1949年获得解放，先编入第十七区，1951年改隶第十六区。1958年，先设红旗公社，当年年底更名渔湖人民公社；1961年分出渔江、梅联两社，两年后重新合为渔湖公社。[2][4]
1984年设渔湖区，1987年4月区制改为镇制，成立渔湖镇，驻地在渔湖桥头。[1][4]2014年7月，渔湖镇经七部委协同认定，列入全国重点镇。[5]
2021年10月，渔湖镇撤销，改设渔湖街道，依据榕城区政府发布的公告，其文号为「揭榕府公〔2021〕3号」。[4]2022年，原渔湖街道的一部分范围析出，分设溪南、凤美、京冈三个街道。[2]
地理环境[edit]
街道位于榕城区东部，地处榕江水系中下游。206国道复线自镇中穿过，离206国道1.5公里，离潮汕天鹅国际机场3公里，拥有港口的便利。[3]
博雅地名网载原渔湖镇面积44.2平方公里、人口9.5万，未注年份；百度百科载街道面积为12.35平方千米，此处采用百度百科的数字。[1][3]
人口与经济[edit]
截至2019年末，原渔湖镇户籍人口为120423人。全镇当年生产总值达45.63亿元（2011年）。[1]
农作物以水稻和香蕉为主，博雅地名网称渔湖为揭阳市的优质稻生产基地。工业门类包括制药、五金电器、模具、塑料与饮料等。镇内规模以上企业169个，各类工业企业共1247个（2019年数字）。[1][5]
荣誉方面，2019年10月，渔湖镇在全国综合实力千强镇榜单中名列第977名；2021年10月，渔湖街道进入当年全国千强镇名录，名次为第968名；2021年和2022年，渔湖街道先后上榜淘宝镇名单。[5]
名胜古迹[edit]
街道内的古迹多在各社区，其中长美社区的袁氏家庙建于元代，清康熙年间扩建，在2007年12月成为揭阳市的市级文物保护单位。[6]
