历史沿革[edit]
1958年村子组建农业高级合作社，隶属安乐乡；同年12月改为生产队，归云光管区。[1]
1959年4月起属云光生产大队，1961年划入梅云公社云光大队。[1]1983年归梅云区山西乡管辖；1986年设汤前村委会，归梅云街道。[1]
经济[edit]
社区总人口4913人、945户，耕地1138亩，山地1000亩（博雅地名网所载，年份未注）。[1]村子的经济支柱是农业、外出务工和小型手工业，在建的紫云工业园将带动工业与农业发展。[1]
名胜古迹[edit]
紫峰寺原名紫峰庵，据百度百科建于元代，至正十一年（1351年）为其始建之年，寺属临济宗，1988年重建，1990年修整。[2]村中的「紫峰春晓」被列为揭阳古八景之一。[1]
明宗岩位于紫峰山南面，据百度百科最初由明皇室宗亲朱洁子携女朱丽儿隐居时营建，始于明末。[3]
文化[edit]
2019年9月，汤前村列入「2018年广东省民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单；广东省爱卫会于2023年5月授予汤前村「2022年广东省卫生村」称号。[1]
