榕东街道是揭阳市榕城区的街道，因地处榕城东部得名，辖区夹在榕江北河与南河之间，面积约11.6平方千米。[1][3]

历史沿革[edit]

历史上这一带隶属揭阳县。新中国成立后，1957年起重新归梅联乡管辖；1958至1960年间归渔湖公社；1961年又回到梅联乡；1963年起至1992年，改由渔湖镇管辖。1992年10月，随揭阳改县设市而来的区划调整中，此地设立了街道。[1][3]

地理环境[edit]

街道坐落在粤东潮汕平原的腹地，处于榕江中游，靠着紫峰山。东侧与渔湖镇相接，西面与榕华、新兴两个街道为邻，南北两侧分别是榕江南河与北河。[1][3]

进贤门大道和渔湖中路贯穿辖区，望江北路与临江南路横跨全境，梅东大桥、莲花大道、梅兜路与榕东路构成南北干道。榕江南北两河可通航，辖区内有一个3000吨级码头，即祠堂码头。[2]

人口[edit]

2011年末，街道常住人口为3.34万人。第七次全国人口普查结果为约3.73万人，在榕城区各街道乡镇中居第7位。[1][3]

经济[edit]

街道以玩具、微电机、五金和塑料制品加工为主。2010年工业总产值为30亿元，比上年增长5.26%；其中，规模以上企业的产值为10亿元，增幅17.65%。当年固定资产投资新增4.724亿元，财政一般预算收入为2189万元。[2]

2010年玩具销售额为6.777亿元，玩具出口总额为1.6亿美元。街道被列入广东省的专业镇，所属行业为玩具与微电机。榕城区概貌简介也称榕东街道获授「广东省微电机专业镇」称号。[2][4]

街道率先在全市创办仙梅民营科技园，该园被列为广东省民营科技园。2020年9月、2021年10月和2022年10月，街道三次入选阿里研究院公布的淘宝镇名单。[1][2]

名胜古迹[edit]

旧寨村有北宋末年创寨的旧寨古村，村中陈氏家庙约建于宋代，在2019年4月列入「第九批广东省文物保护单位」。[5][6]

梅兜村的梅兜水乡古建筑群，2009年8月成为「揭阳市第五批文物保护单位」。[7]

钟厝洋村有宋代吉贝浦桥和明代围龙屋等古迹，当地的元宵游灯习俗已列为榕城区非物质文化遗产。[8]
