社区南临榕江南河，省道236线、1930复线、磐福路和仙滘路贯穿社区，地理位置较好[1]。

2008年，全社区工农业总产值为7.22亿元，人均收5400元[1]。社区的主要产业是五金、不锈钢制品加工和废旧金属购销，有工业厂场一百多家，是铁与不锈钢边角料的购销集散地，并形成了五金模具、网络配件经营和手机一条街[1]。
