西马街道曾是广东省揭阳市榕城区下辖的一个街道，位于榕城区西部，南北两侧濒临榕江南河与北河，东接中山，西连磐东一带[1]。街道办事处原设于西关路，2025年9月9日与中山街道一同撤并，新设进贤门街道[2][3]。撤销前原辖七个社区，其中滘墘社区又作滘墘社区，仙滘社区又作仙滘社区；其余为西郊、西关、西门、北市与新风社区[4]。

历史沿革[edit]

1992年，西马街道自榕城镇分设而成[4]。辖区内新风、北市、西门和西关社区的居委会多在同年成立[7][8][9][10]，西郊社区居委会则于2003年成立[11]，均归西马街道办事处管辖。

2025年9月9日，榕城区人民政府发布公告，中山与西马两街道被撤并，新设进贤门街道，文号为揭榕府公〔2025〕19号，新街道办事处设在西关路122号，即原西马街道办事处驻地[2]。此后进贤门街道揭牌成立[3]。

地理环境[edit]

榕江南北河横穿街道，把它分成两段。钓鳌桥以东一段是古揭阳县城的旧址，历史上河道纵横、水乡风貌突出[1]。2021年的街道介绍把西马列为城郊结合部[1]。

人口与社区[edit]

2021年的街道介绍里，人口4.5万人，辖区有居委会5个、村委会2个[1]。维基百科则列出7个社区、0个行政村，并注明人口36,469人，未写统计年份[4]。两处所说不一，故并录于此。

2023年5月，广东省爱卫会授予七个社区「2022年广东省卫生村」称号，它们分别是窖乾、新风、北市、西门、西关、仙窖和西郊社区[7][8][9][10][11][12][13]。

经济[edit]

五金加工与购销是街道内的主要行业。滘墘社区以五金、服装和其他日用品的生产加工为支柱[12]，仙滘社区有工业厂场一百多家，从事不锈钢制品加工和废旧金属购销，是铁与不锈钢边角料的集散地[13]。街道新开辟的榕西对外工业园区以高新科技为主导，被列为揭阳市十大对外工业园区[1]。

名胜古迹[edit]

辖区内的滘墘社区有二圣古庙和孙乙纪念馆，均为市级文物保护单位[12]；北市社区有丁日昌纪念馆，丁氏光禄公祠即丁日昌的旧居[8][14]。

揭阳许氏宗祠位于西马路，距石狮桥约150米。祠堂始建于明万历八年（公元1580年），由潮州后七贤之一许国佐的曾祖父许守愚为供奉先祖而建，现为省级文物保护单位[5]。

2021年3月，西马路被列入省级历史文化街区，同批入选的还有中山路、石鼓里和东门直街东段[6]。
