居民多以捕鱼为业，居委会因此定名为海洋居委会。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

1951年，此地归饶平县第九区管辖。1958年为海洋大队，1983年改称办事处，到1986年成为居委会；1990年一度称海洋街道管理办事处，1999年复设居委会。[1]
