历史沿革[edit]
1951年，赤棠隶属陈坑乡；1958年组建赤棠大队，归上饶公社，1973年又划入饶洋公社。[1]
1983年改设赤棠乡，归饶洋区；1986年成立村委会，隶饶洋镇；1990年设赤棠管理区；1999年恢复村委会，沿用至今。[1]
地理环境[edit]
百度百科称，全村位于饶平北部山区，辖坑口、棠下楼、尺丘田三片，村民主要讲客家话。全村有山地2100亩、耕地800亩。[2]
名胜古迹[edit]
村内的新彩楼为圆形客家土楼，始建于明万历年间，直径59.4米，为四层圆形结构。该楼1982年曾作为电影《天赐》的取景地，2002年列为广东省文物保护单位。[2][3]
