此地原属虎头大队，1978年定名「虎山大队」，1999年先改为虎山村民委员会，其后又更名为虎头村民委员会[1]。

2026年1月，虎头村获评「广东省第二批“百千万工程”典型村」[1]。

2020年12月，广东省爱卫会授予虎头村「2020年广东省卫生村」称号[1]。
