新沟村是潮安区归湖镇下辖的行政村，位于镇驻地东北约6.5华里处。它东面与砚田村相接，南面连着塘埔村与狮峰村，西面隔凤凰溪与铺头村相望，北面隔凤凰溪与赤凤镇的黄山坑交界。全村方圆2.52平方公里。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

1958年公社化时，此地属铺新大队。1977年以村名定为「新沟大队」，1999年改称新沟村民委员会，名称沿用至今。[1]

姓氏宗族[edit]

新沟一片的林姓创于清乾隆年间，由铺头乡下林迁来；饶平砰溪古楼村的刘氏，在清雍正年间来此定居。[1]

坑仔尾在镇驻地西北约8华里，创于清道光年间，由新沟迁去的林姓居民所建。[1]

文化[edit]

在2018年广东省「民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单中，本村于2019年9月入列。2020年12月，广东省爱卫会授予新沟村「2020年广东省卫生村」荣誉称号。[1]
