蓬洞村是潮安区江东镇下辖的行政村，位于韩江下游、东溪西岸，东临韩江，西邻佘厝洲村，南接澄海横陇，北望龙口村。村民以刘姓为主，村名因先祖初来时树木茂盛、地多谷洞而得。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
据博雅地名网，明朝永乐四年（1406年），刘氏朴叟公、大兴公兄弟自海阳县东津桃坑迁来创村，至今已传二十一代，约六百年。先祖初来时，这里树木蓬勃，地势高低不平，多谷洞，故名蓬洞。[1]
1958年，村以村名设蓬洞大队；1999年改为蓬洞村民委员会，此名沿用至今。[1]
地理环境[edit]
村子处于江东洲岛东南，是全镇地势最低之处，土多冲积而成。旧时村中的“湖田”每年几乎只种一造。解放后，村民平埔改土，改造低洼田，挖沟排涝，兴修水利，粮食产量逐年增加。[2]
人口民族[edit]
据博雅地名网，村中有600多户、2585人，全村为刘氏一姓。该网站未注明统计年份。[2]
经济[edit]
村中耕地设有机械排灌，水田用于种粮，旱地则种瓜果。沙洲上连片种植麻竹一千多亩，年产竹笋一千五百多吨，村中竹笋远近知名。[2]
2001年以来，村中投入八十余万元，将泥沙路改成全长1800米的水泥路；村中也建起了水塔，村民不必再到韩江边挑水。[2]
文化[edit]
村民奉祀三义帝君，每年农历二月初二举行重要的民俗纪念活动，全村游神赛会也是传统的一部分。[2]
解放前夕，本村地处潮澄饶交界，1948年成立地下民兵组织，1949年有武工队在村中活动。村子此后被评为解放战争游击队根据地村庄。[2]
侨乡方面，村中侨胞约一千多人，大多在泰国，其次为新加坡、香港、印尼和马来西亚等地。1986年，村民与侨胞集资4万元重建蓬洞古庙；1996年，刘松茂伉俪独资75万元，兴建村管区办公楼、大礼堂和幼儿园综合大楼。[2]
2019年9月，蓬洞村列入「2018年广东省民主法治示范村（社区）创建单位」名单。[1]
