西前溪村是潮安区江东镇下辖的行政村，位于镇域南部，韩江东溪北岸，东邻东前溪村。村名因韩江东溪自东向西横流经村前而来，村民为林姓单姓。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
据博雅地名网，村名因韩江东溪自东向西横流经村前而得，村的外围竹林丛生，四面环沟，出入只能走独木桥（俗称老鼠桥），加上甘蔗成林，形成天然屏障。先辈林茂德公于明代自澄海盐鸿镇鸿沟迁来定居。[1]
1958年公社化时，西前溪与东前溪联合，以主村之名设西前溪大队；1978年，东前溪另立本队，仍用原名；1999年改为西前溪村民委员会，此名沿用至今。[1]
地理环境[edit]
耕地有1208亩，适种的作物以水稻、甘薯为主，花生、甘蔗、柑桔亦可种植。[2]

村中以农业为主，兼营其他作物与副业。[2]
文化[edit]
西前溪村属革命老区。1926年，村中成立农会；1938年，村中建立党支部，并组织抗日游击小组；1945年，村中有人参加韩江纵队第一支队；1946年，潮安工作委员会设立，村中有人任交通员。自大革命时期至解放战争时期，村中经历革命斗争约二十四年。[1]
教育方面，解放前村中只有一所初级小学。1951年，西前溪与东前溪两村合办前溪小学。1958年，村中办起农业中学，并设民办小学和幼儿园。1968年，村中民办小学改归公办，同时设初中班。2005年，初中部并入，现只有西前溪小学一所。[2]
1950年，村中组织起“星光剧团”，为江东早期的民间业余剧团，常演潮剧，1957年获潮安县政府评定的二等奖。1972年以后，村中锣鼓队活跃。[2]
