谢渡村是潮安区江东镇下辖的行政村，位于镇域南端，南面紧靠韩江，东与西前溪村相接，西与樟厝洲村相邻，西北与渡头村、仙洲村相接，北面与红砂村接壤。村名由明代初年的谢家渡演变而来。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

据博雅地名网，元末（约1353年）前后，佛号公一支由福建莆田鸟衣巷避兵祸迁到此地，那时地名为礼乐乡。他们背着家族三代的神牌，携家带口，历经艰险才来到这里。[1]

明代初年，韩江溪权皆属谢氏，在现樟厝洲境内设有摆渡的渡口，称谢家渡，后演化为谢渡。原有十多个小姓的礼乐乡，因种种原因逃散消失，谢渡村沿用了礼乐乡之名。明朝以后，村东的双家渡村、村东北的下陈村、西面的下刘村与郭厝村等周边村落，相继离散，今仅存残墙断壁。[1]

1958年，村以村名设谢渡大队；1999年改为谢渡村民委员会，此名沿用至今。[1]

地理环境[edit]

村子位于江东镇南端，此处为韩江下游冲积出的平地，土壤肥沃，沟渠纵横，灌溉便利。村中设有一个通往护堤公路与东凤镇的渡口。耕地1173亩。[2]

人口民族[edit]

据博雅地名网，2005年底全村共1007户，计4616人，男性2356，女性2260。1980年至2005年间，迁出75户、310人。[2]

经济[edit]

解放前，村中农业以竹笋、桃李、柑桔、甘蔗、黄麻、花生、香蕉、甘薯和蔬菜为主。至2005年，全村人均收入4200元。[2]

1966年后村里建起妇女抽纱厂和砖席厂；1978年办起机绣场、服装厂和织袋厂，皆为集体经营。1990年后，村中服装厂20余家，机绣厂10余家，花边厂10家，工人约1500人。村中还有池塘220亩，1978年后鱼塘开标到人。[2]

文化[edit]

解放前村中教育落后，学童多在14岁以后入学，且没有女生。1872年后，村中先后办起振生学校和育才学校；1946年上半年，两校并为“报本学校”，设于村大宗祠内。1950年至1960年间，小学生增至200多人，到1966年达400多人。[2]

2021年10月，「2021年淘宝村」名单发布，谢渡村榜上有名；2023年5月，村子获广东省爱卫会授予「2022年广东省卫生村」称号。[1]
