红砂村是潮安区江东镇下辖的行政村，位于镇域中南部，东与龙口村、井美村相接，西与中庄村、下庄村为邻，北接圆山村。村民以洪姓为主，另有彭、马、张、杨、卢等姓。村名原作“洪砂”，后改为“红砂”。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
据博雅地名网，红砂的洪氏始创于南宋末元初，约在1270年前后，洪氏先祖天锡公偕子明象公自泉州府晋江县迁来，先居海阳县彩塘镇鹂塘乡，后迁到溪东都的下庄村。至明宪宗成化初年，洪氏九代后人茂吾公迁往二公里外的凤埔定居，即今红砂。初建时多盖草屋，因多姓聚居，洪氏为和睦邻里，把“洪砂”改为“红砂”。[1][2]
1958年公社化时，村以村名设立红砂大队；1999年改为红砂村民委员会，此名沿用至今。[1][2]
地理环境[edit]
村子位于江东镇偏南的腹地，面积约1.5平方公里，耕地1336.43亩。土层深厚，承压力在全江东为最强，大部分为粘质土，宜种各种作物。水利设施较好，排灌便利。[1][2]
人口民族[edit]
据博雅地名网，全村共752户，总人口3226人。其中洪氏现有2492人；彭氏520人、马氏234人、杨氏88人、张氏74人、卢氏28人。该网站未注明统计年份。[1][2]
经济[edit]
农业以水稻为主，兼种甘蔗、黄麻、花生、甘薯、柑桔和蔬菜。红砂曾是镇里重要的甘蔗、黄麻、花生和潮州柑产区，80年代潮州柑成片种植。八九十年代，村里还办起两三百亩的水稻良种基地。[1][2]
90年代，村中陆续修建水泥路，村内道路直通周边的县、镇级公路。村中现有六家民营企业，另有十六家在外地开办企业。[1][2]
文化[edit]
明末村中已有两处私塾。民国初年办起广智、启智和开智三所小学；抗战胜利后，村中设国民学校，隶属江东第四中心，周边圆山村的学童亦来此就读。[1][2]
红砂村内有洪灵菲故居，以及学劳公祠、洪之政旧居、荣成大夫第、荣利内等建筑。2019年12月，以上建筑列为潮州市第三批历史建筑。洪灵菲故居另见本镇条目。[1][2]
