井美村是潮安区江东镇下辖的行政村，位于镇域中部东侧，傍韩江东溪急水一带，东面临韩江，南与龙口村相邻。村民以刘姓为主，村名由原称“井尾”演变而来，据称因村东南有一口古井而得名。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

据博雅地名网，明永乐年间（1403年至1424年），刘氏148世祖东兴公自饶平坪澳夏校迁此开基。创村时此地在急水山尾部，村东南有一口古井，故称“井尾”，民国初年雅称“井美”。[2]

清道光乙未年（1835年），村中设立“急水市”，有铺户108间，一时往来贸易的人很多。村中的江东文祠、龙尾爷宫、水仙爷宫及基督教堂等建筑，都在抗战期间被日军焚毁，现只存遗址。[2]

1974年，以村名设立大队；1999年转为村民委员会，此名沿用至今。[1]

地理环境[edit]

村子位于江东中部东侧，离镇政府东面约2.2公里，靠近韩江东溪的急水一带，地处其西岸。[2]

人口民族[edit]

据博雅地名网，村中刘姓约占94%，吴、巫等姓约占6%。村中现有529户、2202人，其中男1111人、女1091人，劳动力1085人。该网站未注明统计年份。[2]

经济[edit]

改革开放后，村北开辟了工业区，玩具、陶瓷、鞋类，以及服装、机绣等行业的企业十余家相继开办，从业人员400多人。2005年，村民人均收入4200元。[2]

文化[edit]

村中的“老书斋”（原名“梅兰轩”）是最早的私塾。民国初年才有了井美小学，抗战胜利之后，学校改称江东第一中心小学。1966年办起江东朝阳中学，1984年与井美小学合并为井美联中，2000年并入江东初级中学，现村中只办小学。[2]

井美村是侨乡，侨居者人数不少，所在国家以东南亚为多，远及澳洲与美国。1993年，侨居马来西亚的刘宝良夫妇带头捐资50万元，倡建一所新学校；连同其他捐款，学校共投入130万元，用地12亩，建筑面积约1500平方米。2004年，村民在外工作的人员共筹资60万元，为村民接通自来水管道；2005年，又筹资修筑了长2000多米、宽5米的水泥村道。[2]

1949年4月至10月，老书斋曾是中共潮安县工作委员会的驻地，老书斋至今原址尚存。1993年，潮州市人民政府审定井美村为解放战争游击根据地。[2]
