下庄村是潮安区江东镇下辖的行政村，位于江东平原中部偏南，后靠韩江，前有静水河。村民为庄姓，村名因其位于独树庄氏三村之南而来。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

据博雅地名网，南宋末年，独树庄氏先祖弥渊公随抗元的军队南下，兵败后潜居江东，约在景炎年间（1276年至1278年）在此安家，村名取“独树”。其后子孙分居，遂有上庄、中庄、下庄三村。[2]

据博雅地名网，明朝宣德年间（1426年至1435年），五世祖养善公夫妇迁到和兴社（即今下庄）居住，在社北建屋，又在社南建万寿庙。当时此社住着好几姓人家，今村中还有以洪、许、卢、翁等姓命名的地名，如洪厝桥、许厝底。这些杂姓后来逐渐衰落、迁走，和兴社只剩庄姓一族。[2]

1974年，村以下庄之名命名为下庄大队；1999年改为村民委员会，此名沿用至今。[1]

地理环境[edit]

村子处在江东平原的中部，后靠韩江，前面有一条静水河流过。耕地都在村东，与红砂、前溪、谢渡等村接壤，村舍之间相距较远。[2]

人口民族[edit]

据博雅地名网，养善公一脉的后代有相当一部分迁往欧美、东南亚，或迁往潮州城、揭阳棉湖等地，迁出的人口至今已有3000多人。[2]

文化[edit]

2019年9月，下庄村列入「2018年广东省民主法治示范村（社区）创建单位」名单。2023年5月，村子获授「2022年广东省卫生村」称号。[1]
