中庄村是潮安区江东镇下辖的行政村，位于江东中部，东邻红砂村与圆山村，西靠韩江西溪，南接下庄村，北与上庄村相邻。村名自新中国成立后正式定名，此前称独树庄中乡，也被称作“何上”。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

据博雅地名网，明朝正德元年（1506年），庄氏七世祖清河公的第四子月潮公自上庄分居到此开基。村名旧为独树庄中乡，随庄氏繁衍，分成上、中、下三处自然村，月潮公所居的是中间一处。开基时此地已有几姓人家杂居，包括何、董、周、蔡、程诸姓，至今仍可考见程厝、董处埠、蔡厝巷等地名。清末以后，庄姓成为村中人口最多的主姓，海外侨胞与老辈人因此多称中庄为独树庄中乡；另有人称之为“何上”，因何姓当时占大多数。解放后方才正式定名中庄。[1]

据博雅地名网，村子已有约500年的历史。1952年建政时，本村属三连庄乡；1958年公社化时属三庄大队；1964年因村处三村中段，命名为中庄大队；1999年改为村民委员会，此名沿用至今。[1]

地理环境[edit]

村域面积约1200亩，耕地570亩。土质多为粘沙质结合土，宜作经济作物。一条内河把住宅区与田野分开，田中池塘众多，灌溉便利。[2]

经济[edit]

过去村中主要种甘蔗、黄麻、花生、地瓜和水稻。20世纪80年代末改革开放后，村中以高科技蔬菜基地为主，兼营果菜种植、加工、销售，并办起服装印染厂、服装厂、小型建筑队及饮食、百货等行业，从业人员200多人。2005年的人均年收入为4260元。[2]

2002年，江东进行水改，村中安装了自来水，村民不再依靠井水与溪水。[2]

文化[edit]

据博雅地名网，解放前村中的私塾设在北厝、七房新祠堂等处。解放后，学校集中到月祖祠，逐步扩建为完全小学。1992年，村里集资，又得侨胞与知名人士捐款，在大桥引桥南侧约100米处建成占地10亩的新校，内有三层教学楼、四层宿舍楼及操场。学校现有三百余名学生、十余名教师。[2]

中庄村还办有两所幼儿园，在园儿童约200人。[2]

2021年10月，「2021年淘宝村」名单由南京大学空间规划研究中心与阿里研究院联合发布，中庄村入选；2022年10月，「2022年淘宝村」名单公布，中庄村再次上榜。[1]
