亭头村是潮安区江东镇下辖的行政村，位于镇域东北部，临韩江东溪，与元巷村相接。全村以林姓为主，村名由“亭兜”演变而来。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

村子原称“亭兜村”，创村时地形似兜，村首又有一亭，故名。因“兜”与“头”音近，遂改称亭头村。[1]

据博雅地名网，村中林氏原自江苏下邳迁到福建莆田，宋宝祐年间（1253年至1258年）因兵乱迁往澄海鸿沟乡，明初再迁入江东西前溪村，嘉靖元年（1522年）林朴斋自西前溪村三房迁来此地定居。清康熙三年（1664年）“迁海界”时，盛姓亲戚前来投靠，晚清时盛姓又迁往他乡。[1]

1958年，村以村名设队；1965年本队并入元巷大队，1974年重新拆出，仍用原名；1984年公社改区，设亭头乡；1987年撤区设镇，改称亭头管理区；1999年改为亭头村民委员会，此名沿用至今。[1]

地理环境[edit]

村域南面接村头村和洲东村，离镇政府约四公里。土地属沙质土，耕地428亩。甘蔗与黄麻之外，花生、玉米、大豆及水果也都适宜栽培，均属旱园作物。[2]

人口民族[edit]

经济[edit]

村中自晚清起有手工业传统，打锡箔、浸靛、腌制杂菜与酱料等，至今仍有村民在本村及潮州城区、彩塘、庵埠、汕头等地开办酱园和腌制工场。[2]

1958年，村中引种广东省农科所培育的“粤园八号”黄麻，种植109亩，平均亩产1015斤，创全省黄麻高产记录。1966年，村中稻种与番薯品种分别创下平均亩产1050斤和10000斤的全省纪录。[2]

改革开放后，村里将耕地转向荔枝、芒果、香蕉、杨桃等水果，并种植多种蔬菜。约半数富余劳动力进入城市务工或经商。[2]

文化[edit]

明清时村中已设私塾。民国初年，林氏宗祠内办起崇本学堂，后改为崇本学校；1951年改名亭头小学。2003年，村委会投资138万元，建成三层新校舍，建筑面积1100平方米。[2]

村中乡贤林氏曾在广西容县任正堂。民国二十五年（1936年），林盛传毕业于广州黄埔军校第十六期。村里的文艺活动也有传统，2003年曾组织有70人的大锣鼓队。[2]

抗日战争时期，亭头村有村民参加抗日后备队，并为游击队秘密送情报、征粮。1991年，亭头村经县、市政府上报，获上级批准列为革命老区。[2]

2019年9月，亭头村列入「2018年广东省民主法治示范村（社区）创建单位」名单。[1]
