柚园村是潮安区江东镇下辖的行政村，位于镇域北部，东临韩江东溪，北接下水头村，南邻元巷村。村名因周围种植柚树而来，村民以郑姓为主。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

据博雅地名网，郑松径原是福建莆田县人，约在明万历元年（即公元1573年）来此开村，因周围多种柚树，村因此得名。郑松径之后分出多房：四子迁往澄海头冲村，五子随母迁回枫溪，以陶瓷生意立业。[1]

1958年，村以主村之名成立柚园大队。1967年该队并入水头大队，到1974年重新分出，队名未改。1999年改为村民委员会，此名沿用至今。[1]

地理环境[edit]

村子耕地约327亩，分布在村的北面、东面和南面，分为后埔、直路、湖墘、郭厝、庵前五片。土多为沙质土，过去灌溉不便，村周围六个池塘是浇灌作物的主要水源。[2]

经济[edit]

农作物以黄麻、甘蔗、花生、大豆、小麦为主，近年以香蕉和竹笋为多，江东菜脯和竹笋在本地有名。[2]

1975年，村里在传统的抽纱手工业基础上办起机绣厂，这是附近村落中较早的一家。之后第四生产队又开办了五金电镀厂，两家发展成为规模不小的村办企业。村里还划出工业用地，吸引外来企业入驻。[2]

文化[edit]

明清时期，村中已设“书斋”，聘请外地先生教书，即现在村委会所在地。抗战胜利后，村中子弟转入设于下水头村的「江东乡第五中心小学」读书。1974年起，本村与葛外村合办小学，校舍先后借用公祠，后改建养猪场为教室。[2]

2005年，村集体与葛外村的侨亲、乡亲共筹资金190万元，兴建了一座三层教学大楼，用地约4600平方米，建筑面积共1800平方米，2005年正月初五奠基，同年9月落成。[2]

1997年，在外工作的郑植强捐资135万元，修建了一条从上村道穿村而过、长约1公里的水泥路，连接镇道公路；侨属吴如思则捐资在村南修筑了“郑桂香路”。[2]
