历史沿革[edit]
据村情所载，元末明初，福建莆田县涵头村的蔡氏迁到鲲头（今属高楼村）创乡。明朝正德年间，鲲头蔡氏的子孙迁往高东村下边定居，人们称此地为「高下」，之后因求文雅，改称「高厦」。[2]
高厦一村与高厦二村原是一个自然村。1956年，它与周围几个自然村组成高厦乡，次年并入沙溪乡；1961年别立出来，称高一大队，归沙溪公社管。1983年为高一乡，1987年才称高厦一村，1999年定为高厦一村民委员会。[1][2]
地理与经济[edit]
村子地势平坦，土壤肥沃，内洋溪流经村南，北有北乡道，南有南乡道，水陆交通方便。村中耕地1020亩，另有山地500余亩；主种水稻、地瓜、花生、甘蔗和生柑。工副业以抽纱和锡页加工为主。[2]
据1985年统计，全村纯收入为746687元，人均322．50元。[2]
荣誉[edit]
2019年9月，村子列入「2018年广东省民主法治示范村（社区）创建单位」名单；2021年12月，获广东省爱卫会授予「2021年广东省卫生村」称号。[1]
