廖厝村是潮安区金石镇下辖的单姓行政村，全村廖姓，位于镇区东南约1千米处，西北紧靠赖厝村。廖氏始祖明永乐二十年（1422年）自福建莆田迁至桑浦山下埔村定居，后因地理位置不利生产，于1540年迁至距下埔村8千米的现址。[1][2]
历史沿革[edit]
村中起初有廖、颜、黄等姓聚居。至1685年，人口较多的廖姓统一了全村，建起「廖社庙」，村名遂称廖厝。1999年改称廖厝村民委员会，此名沿用至今。[1][2]
文化[edit]
1955年至1956年间，村里办过一个七十多人的业余剧团，演出过多个剧目，丰富了村民的文化生活。[2]
荣誉[edit]
2019年9月，廖厝村列入「2018年广东省民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单。2021年12月，广东省爱卫会授予廖厝村「2021年广东省卫生村」称号。2022年8月，廖厝村被确定为「2022年广东省民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位。2023年4月，廖厝村列入「2022年广东省乡村治理示范村」创建单位名单。2026年1月，廖厝村获评「广东省第二批百千万工程典型村」。[1]
