厂头村是潮安区金石镇下辖的行政村，博雅地名网写作厂头巷村，位于镇区东南约1千米处，全村为吴姓。始祖吴菊恩明嘉靖年间（约公元1526年）自揭阳县锡场携眷迁来创村。[1]
地名与沿革[edit]
村址主巷头正面原有一口古井，初名井头巷；后因“井”与“厂”读音相近，久而称为厂头巷。1958年公社化时与田头村合为「田厂大队」，1974年分队后以村名命名为「厂头大队」，1999年改称厂头村民委员会。[1]
革命史[edit]
大革命时期，潮安县委的吴均炎烈士与妇委的张两娇烈士夫妻，均是本村人。[1]
经济[edit]
村址东距潮汕公路1.5千米。土地大部分为潮泥田，历来以农业为主，种植水稻、甘蔗和生柑等经济作物。近年，毛织加工厂、副食品加工厂、五金和机械等村办企业相继建立。[2]
荣誉[edit]
2019年9月，厂头村列入「2018年广东省民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单。2020年9月，厂头村列入「2020年淘宝村」名单。2021年10月，厂头村列入「2021年淘宝村」名单。2022年10月，厂头村列入「2022年淘宝村」名单。2026年3月，厂头村被认定为「广东省第三批百千万工程典型村镇」。[1]
