横洋村是登塘镇下辖的行政村，它的三个自然村分别是杨厝、吴厝和东坑。村子位于旧田东乡东南部，距原乡政府约1.5公里。[1][2][3]
村名取自村前地势平坦、如同回旋之洋，加上房屋成排横向排列。清初吴、杨两姓来此定居时，邓、邵、薛三姓已住在这里，后来迁走。[2][3]
历史沿革[edit]
公社化期间的1958年，横洋与西坑合编为一个大队；1999年，改设横洋村民委员会。[1]
人口与经济[edit]
村子现有耕地343亩，山地7455亩，主要种杉木、松柏和竹类。1976年以来，村里发展荔枝、青梅、橄榄等果树。[2][3]
一条长1.5公里的水利沟渠环绕村前，灌溉农田800亩。东坑自然村设有佛手果种植基地。[2][3]
文化[edit]
农历正月十五，村里有迎花灯的习俗。[2]
2020年12月，横洋村获「2020年广东省卫生村」称号；2019年9月，村子列入「2018年广东省民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单。[1]
