白茫洲村是登塘镇下辖的行政村，地处西山溪环绕的丘陵之中，离登塘墟约6公里。[1][2][3]

村子创于明初。三面环水的村子溪滩上生满芦苇，开花时白茫茫一片，村名由此而来。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

清代，村北曾设过墟市，是潮州、丰顺两地农副产品和杉木的集散地。[2]

1925年农会成立以后，村子成为广东人民抗日游击队韩江纵队的重要活动地带。1957年，村子获授「红色根据地」荣誉称号。[3]

1958年公社化期间，村子隶属枫树员大队；1973年，以村名设白茫洲大队；1999年，改设白茫洲村民委员会。[2]

人口与经济[edit]

2006年12月，村中共1133人（博雅地名网）；2015年户籍人口为1236人（百度百科）。耕地481.8亩，地势北高南低，村民从事农林业，种水稻、甘薯和荔枝，山地育杉木、松竹和茶叶。[2][3]

村中还有一株树龄约400年的芒果树。[3]

文化[edit]

村内保留着清代所建的永平桥，以及1969年建成的西山溪大石桥。境内的居西溜曾是韩江纵队第一支队的根据地。[2][3]

2020年12月，白茫洲村获「2020年广东省卫生村」称号。[1]
