尧田村是登塘镇下辖的行政村，位于深山谷中。村后的大尖山是附近的制高点。[2]
村名经过了两次变化。清乾隆年间，梅县蕉岭的谢姓迁居此地，烧荒垦田，村子先叫「火烧田」；1966年去掉其中两个「火」字，改名尧田。该年代据博雅地名网所载，公元纪年为1736至1795年。[2]
历史沿革[edit]
此前，张、黎、谢等姓曾在此定居，之后陆续迁走。公社化期间的1958年，尧田与平林合编为一个生产大队；1974年，改以村名设尧田大队；1999年改设尧田村民委员会。[1][2]
经济与文化[edit]
在广东省农业农村厅2020年8月公布的首批「一村一品、一镇一业」专业村名单中，尧田村因茶叶入选。[1]
在1985年，村中在校小学生22人，入学率偏低。抗日战争时期，「独立二十旅」二团团部曾驻扎村中。[2]
2019年9月，尧田村列入「2018年广东省民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单。[1]
