扬美村是登塘镇下辖的行政村，位于镇西北部，西北靠山，南面1公里处有大坑水库，东距登塘墟约1.5公里。[1]
村子创于明朝初年，最初建在羊地的尾部，后取雅称「扬美」以避讳。创乡时有刘、邓等姓，现以陈、江两姓为主。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
1958年以村名设扬美大队，1963年并入白云大队，1974年恢复扬美大队的名称，1999年改为扬美村民委员会。[1]
经济[edit]
村子地势平坦，耕地650亩，主产水稻、甘薯、甘蔗和豆类；山地种杉木、松树、茶和杂果。五十年代以前，村民还善于在溪中淘锡。[1]
文化[edit]
村周围有多处自宋至清名宦的古墓茔遗址。1985年在校小学生150人，入学率达90%。[1]
2019年9月，扬美村列入「2018年广东省民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单。[1]
