元房村是湘桥区官塘镇下辖的行政村，包括元房、溪头两个自然村，位于北溪西岸，距镇政府驻地东约1千米。[2]
历史沿革[edit]
据百度百科，村落始建于北宋元符年间（1098至1100年）。村名的一种说法与海阳县令陈坦卸任后携长子在三山一带定居有关。[2]
博雅地名网记：1987年为元房村民委员会，1989年为元房村管理区委员会，1999年为元房村委会。[1]
2026年1月，元房村获评「广东省第二批“百千万工程”典型村」称号。[1]
在2018年广东省「民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单中，元房村于2019年9月入列。[1]
