同茂社区由同茂村与永丰村合并而成，2001年11月设立。辖区总面积5.06平方公里，分为同茂片和永丰片两部分：同茂片有6个居民小组，面积约1.67平方公里；永丰片面积约3.39平方公里，设9个居民小组。[1]
社区名称的由来：居委会驻地在同茂围，因此得名。2023年12月，社区被认定为「2023年度中山市绿色社区」；2019年9月，社区上榜「2018年广东省民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
解放后，此地属白鲤村委会。1988年设同茂管理区，隶属坦背镇；1998年改设同茂村委会。[1]
次年坦背镇撤销，这里划归东升镇。此后，同茂与永丰两村委会于2001年11月改制为居委会，合组为同茂社区居民委员会。据博雅地名网所载，2021年6月社区并入小榄镇。[1]
