北区社区位于小榄镇北部，东临小榄水道，南面以凤山和新市社区为界，西面接西区、竹源社区，西北隔水与佛山市顺德区均安镇南沙村相望。辖区面积4.79平方公里，环镇北路东西向穿过，民安北路南北向通往主城区，广中江高速也横穿社区。[1]
社区名称因地处小镇北部而定。2021年12月，社区被认定为「2021年度中山市绿色社区」。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
1958年此地设北区大队，辖滘口、福兴两片。此后数年间，北区与福兴时分时合，1983年和1984年先后设乡、设区，1986年改设村委会。2002年，北区、福兴合并为北区村委会，2005年改设北区居委会，沿用至今。[1]
