新市社区位于小榄镇东北部，离镇政府约2公里。辖区地势平坦，北部的凤山海拔26.72米，东部的龙山海拔41.5米，是辖区的最高点。社区户籍人口4.6万多，外来流动人口1万多，是小榄镇主城区的社区之一。[1]

社区内有14条河涌横贯其间，大部分已加盖为道路。2021年12月，社区被认定为「2021年度中山市绿色社区」。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

社区的名字来自驻地所在的新市横街。2001年此地设立新市社区居委会，2005年原菊城社区居委会并入，两者合为新市居委会，名称至今未变。[1]

凤山已建为凤山公园，龙山已建为龙山公园。双美桥也在社区一带，详见小榄镇条目。[1]
