五沙村位于广东省中山市横栏镇西部，距镇中心约6千米。东面与宝裕村相接，西侧濒临西江，南面是六沙村，北面与三沙的花木基地和茂辉工业区毗邻。全村占地约7000亩，其中耕地约6000亩，设10个村民小组。[1]

地名由来[edit]

据博雅地名网，此地原为淤积而成的沙洲，依次序号命名为「五沙」。村委会设在此地，遂以此为村名。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

宋末元初，此地淤成沙洲，与六沙同称白蚝沙，属西海十八沙之一，后按序次称五沙。清道光后期，六沙人迁居此地，合筑围垦，并曾建有均宁社坛。1953年又与六沙合并为五六沙乡，此后先后称五六沙村、五沙大队，1966年曾改名五红大队。1983年11月设五沙村委会，1990年为五沙管理区，1998年重新称村民委员会，至今未变。[1]

经济[edit]

2012年，村集体经济总收入2159万元，人均收入10949元。村内产业原以水产养殖为主，现逐步转为水产养殖与花木种植并举；规划在古神公路以西南约3600亩土地上建设现代花木园区。[2]

荣誉[edit]

2026年1月，五沙村获评广东省第二批「百千万工程」典型村称号。2021年12月，民政部办公厅将五沙村确认为「全国村级议事协商创新实验试点单位」。2020年8月，村子入选首批「广东省一村一品、一镇一业」专业村名单（花卉苗木）。2024年1月，村子被确定为「2023年广东省民主法治示范村（社区）」。2019年9月，村子上榜「2018年广东省民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单。2020年、2021年与2022年，村子三次上榜「淘宝村」名单。[1]
