新茂村位于广东省中山市横栏镇西北部，村名由新兴、茂隆两个地片各取一字而来，1959年两地合设新茂大队时定名。村委会驻地在村内，因此得名。[1]

据概况，全村土地总面积6300多亩：居住用地为1800多亩，工业发展面积为3000多亩，耕地则为1500多亩。村内有新茂商业街，商铺林立，是横栏镇北半部的商业中心；新茂工业区近年新增投产和在建厂企150家。村集体年终收入2052万元，人均年收入14776元。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

1959年，新兴、茂隆两地片合设新茂大队，隶属横栏公社；1961年分设为新兴、茂隆两个大队，1963年又合设新茂大队。其后村名几经变动：1984年为新茂乡，1986年改成村委会；1990年改为管理区，直到2001年才恢复为新茂村民委员会，沿用至今。[2]

荣誉[edit]

2022年10月，广东省农业农村厅把新茂村列为「一村一品、一镇一业」专业村，产业为花卉苗木。2022年8月，村子被列为「2022年广东省民主法治示范村（社区）」的创建单位。2020年、2021年与2022年，村子三次上榜「淘宝村」名单。[1]
