西街社区位于港口镇西部，大体在港口沥的西岸。它离中山市中心城区西北约10公里，在镇政府以西约2公里处。[2]

地名由来[edit]

此地位于港口河西岸，因此被叫作「西街」。[4]

历史沿革[edit]

2001年6月，西街、南九、穗农三村委会合并，设西街村委会；2002年改为西街社区居民委员会，此名沿用至今。[3]

地理环境[edit]

辖区平坦，农用土地共9403亩，其中基本农田所占比例为70%。境内河流众多，主要河涌有16条。[2]

人口民族[edit]

社区下辖43个居民小组，居民户共2200户，户籍人口10200人，另有流动人口约3000人。[2]

社会事业[edit]

社区党委下属34个居民小组党支部，覆盖全部43个居民小组，党员216人。党群服务中心按「五室一厅」的要求建设，服务面积近千平方米，有工作人员28名。[2]

荣誉[edit]

2022年10月，西街社区被认定为「2022年广东省一村一品、一镇一业专业村」（水产养殖）。2023年4月，社区列入「2022年广东省乡村治理示范村」创建单位名单。2023年12月，西街社区获认定为中山市绿色社区，认定年度为2023年。[1]
