西罟步村在东凤镇东南方向，距镇中心约6.3公里，距中山市城区约16.7公里。东面与阜沙镇卫民村为邻，南面接东罟步村，西面临小榄水道，北面靠永益村、东和平村与吉昌村。村名中的「罟步」同样指罟步沙，渔民旧时在此晒网。[1][2]
历史沿革[edit]
1951年，此地设西罟步村，隶第三区东海乡。1953年改为西罟步乡，隶第七区，1955年又划入南头区。1957年重新设村，归东凤乡；1958年并入小榄公社东凤耕作区，设西罟步生产营；1959年设大队，归南头公社，1974年转归东凤公社。[2]
1983年起称西罟步乡，隶东凤区；1986年，西罟步村委会成立，隶东凤镇；1989年设管理区，1998年恢复西罟步村委会的名称。[2]
地理环境[edit]
太澳高速、东海路与东吉路贯穿全村，往东距广珠西线东阜出入口约1公里，北面紧接十水线永益出口，离轻轨小榄站约2公里。村内六纵七横的主干村道连接各个村民小区。[2][3]
全村辖区面积9298亩，其中农业用地5000多亩，产业以水产养殖与花木、水果种植为主，先后被评为省市「无公害水产养殖基地」与「无公害蔬菜生产基地」。[3]
人口民族[edit]
村辖有一片至四片共4个自然村，全村31个村民小组，流动人口472人，户籍人口9229人。百度百科另载2005年户籍人口为8236人，年份与口径均与此不同。[3][1]
经济[edit]
村里素有种植龙眼的传统，已有上百年历史，现存龙眼树3万多株，其中多株为逾百年古树。1985年，纯种脆肉龙眼样本送广东省农科所参加评比，获「广东省优质脆肉龙眼评比」一等奖；1992年10月，脆肉龙眼在首届中国农业博览会上获铜质奖。2012年初，村里成立了东凤镇西罟脆肉石硖龙眼专业合作社，同年4月申报「西罟石硖」与「罟步石硖」两个商标。[3]
村于2020年8月被认定为广东省「一村一品、一镇一业」脆肉鲩专业村，同年12月被认定为中山市同类专业村。2021年1月，中山市美丽廊道建设示范点里多了一处，即石硖脆肉龙眼廊道。[3]
文化[edit]
村内建成爱民塘公园与香山书房等公共设施。2019年9月，村上榜「2018年广东省民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单；2021年10月，西罟步村上榜淘宝村名单；2026年1月，获评广东省第二批「百千万工程」典型村称号。[1][2][3]
