历史沿革[edit]
清嘉庆中期，石岐人来此筑围，取名「中沙埠城围基」，此后顺德、黄圃等地的人也来围耕。清末围成「中沙永乐围」，据传修筑时孙中山先生曾资助1万元。民国时期改名为「中沙吉昌围」，取吉祥昌盛之意。[2]
1936年，此地属九区中沙乡；1944年划入凤仪乡。1951年，它归第九区凤鸣乡，称和平村（含吉昌）。1958年10月起，隶属小榄大公社东凤耕作区的和平生产营。1961年，该地划入南头区和平公社；1964年吉昌析出，另设吉昌大队。文化大革命期间一度改称红卫大队，此后恢复原名。1983年起隶属东凤区的吉昌乡，下有13个生产队；1986年改设吉昌村委会，1989年设吉昌管理区，1998年恢复村委会建制。[2]
地理环境[edit]
鸡鸦水道沿村北边境流过，两条省道穿村而过，村内有19条主干道和主要街道，另有渡口2个。村西与东和平村相接，东面与阜沙镇罗松村相连，南面隔中心河与阜沙镇的卫民、牛角两村相望。[3]
人口民族[edit]
截至2024年底，外来人口约3000人，股东3774人，户籍人口则为4246人。[3]
经济[edit]
村内基塘约1100亩，主养南美白对虾、桂花鱼与笋壳鱼等。2002年，村里引入废品收购行业；2012年，原废品收购场用地经改造后引进了一批大型企业。现有企业约400家，工业用地约1200亩；集体物业约3400平方米，村集体工作用地约150亩。[3]
文化[edit]
吉昌村先后创建为省级、市级卫生村，连续多年获市、镇文明村称号。2019年9月，村上榜「2018年广东省民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单；2021年9月，被评为第二批省级「一村一品、一镇一业」专业村（水产养殖）。2021年10月与2022年10月，吉昌村先后上榜淘宝村名单。[1][2][3]
