历史沿革[edit]
据博雅地名网，严姓先祖严汉臣由福建闽县迁往南雄珠玑巷，北宋元丰七年（1084年）其后人迁来濠涌定居[2]。
村落最初因临近丰埠湖的涌边、以采蠔为业而称「蠔涌」，因「蠔」与「濠」读音相近，改称濠涌[2]。因与中山市沙溪镇的濠涌同名，村子一度改称东乡，1983年定名东濠涌，1998年9月设立濠涌村委会[1]。
文物古迹[edit]
村中的严氏大宗祠始建于万历十九年（辛卯年，1591年），康熙五十三年（甲午年，1714年）重建；1976年，祠堂被拆除，原址改建为村会堂[2]。
自建村以来，村内共有祠堂、庙宇、闸门41座；现存祠堂4间、庙宇2间，观音庙在2003年经村民捐资修缮[2]。
