民众街道是广东省中山市下辖的街道，位于市境东北部，东北一侧与广州方向接壤，南面隔横门水道与中山火炬开发区相望。[1][4]

街道前身为民众镇。自2021年7月19日起，原民众镇的辖区改由街道管辖，现辖3个社区和16个行政村。[2][5]

历史沿革[edit]

明清时期这一带归黄旗都管辖；清宣统二年（1910年）改属香山县第九区。[2]

1934年（民国二十三年），浪网、浪鳡与三墩新涨三处被并为民众乡，归中山县第九区管辖。[2]

1950年4月立县设区，三角、浪网与民众三乡合成中山县第十区，区公所驻民众。1957年2月撤区并乡，同年11月组建民众人民公社。[2]

其间的沿革较为频繁：1959年1月，民众与浪网合组为公社；1961年8月改称区；1963年三角从中分出；1967年12月恢复公社之名；1974年2月浪网独立；1984年2月两地分属民众区与浪网区。[2]

1986年12月，撤区建镇，民众与浪网分设镇；2000年6月，两镇合为民众镇。[2]

2021年7月19日，民众镇被撤销并改设街道，管辖范围沿用原镇的行政区域。[2][5]

地名的来历，据博雅地名网称，1930年前后番禺人黄泽生在九区六百六围东角十字涌口一带开设茶室，名为「民众茶室」，墟市由此得名民众。[3]

街道位于中山市东北部，属珠江口冲积平原上的岭南水乡，河涌纵横，海岸线长46公里，外江大堤37.3公里，外江水闸21座，内河139条。[1]

2016年，街道实现地区生产总值63.25亿元，同比增长15.1%。固定资产投资额达22.41亿元，升幅为18%。三次产业的比重为8.9：39.7：51.4。[1]

百度百科另记，2024年火炬统筹区（含民众街道）的地区生产总值为573.72亿元，这一数字包括统筹区内的其他地区，不是街道本身的产值。[4]

产业上，街道先后建设沙仔工业集聚区、城南工业集聚区与纺织工业园等工业基地，并推进中山保税物流中心、沿江能源精细化工区与高新技术环保产业园三大园区的建设。农业方面建有五大生产示范基地，总面积达7500亩。[1]

据博雅地名网，街道形成了电子、家具、家电、玩具、食品、船舶制造、五金机械等门类齐全的工业体系，近500家国内外企业在此创业。[1]

2019年的榜单中，街道在全国综合实力千强镇里排第274位；2021年，又以第278名入选全国千强镇。其入选淘宝镇名单的年份为2020年和2022年。[3]

街道的水乡文化以咸水歌、高棠歌与以船代轿的婚俗为代表，民间生活从疍家人出海捕鱼、归家耕种发展而来。[1]

2007年，街道被评为「中山旅游特色镇」，并获「广东旅游名镇」「广东省旅游特色镇」等称号。[1]

2010年3月，环境保护部为街道颁授「全国环境优美乡镇」称号，这是国家生态建设示范区的一项内容。[3]

2020年7月，街道再次被认定为「2020年国家卫生乡镇（县城）」，认定机构为全国爱国卫生运动委员会。[3]

此外，街道还获「广东省农业科技创新专业镇」「广东省卫生镇」「广东省教育强镇」「广东省生态示范镇」等省级称号，以及「中山市平安镇区」称号。[1]

名胜古迹[edit]

大农高科位于新平村，即中山市大农高科农业科技有限公司，以盆景葡萄的工厂化生产为特色，兼有科普和观光休闲功能。[3]
