五桂山社区位于五桂山街道的中心区，名称得自这一位置。居民委员会于1987年6月开始设立，2005年11月镇改为街道办事处后，改称社区居民委员会。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

办公地点几经变动：起初随镇政府设在南桥村的石莹桥，1993年跟随镇址迁往石鼓村马槽的政府大院，2003年才搬到如今位于桂祥苑生活小区的办公楼。[1] 办公室面积120平方米，内设办事厅、办公室与会议室，职责包括管理桂祥苑小区，并办理机关、事业单位非农业人口的相关行政事务。[1]

地理环境[edit]

社区驻地在镇政府东南约0.4公里处，周边的村子包括南桥、龙石、长命水与桂南。[1]

文化[edit]

2021年12月，社区被认定为「2021年度中山市绿色社区」；2019年9月，社区上榜「2018年广东省民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单。[1]
