隆平社区在西区街道的西侧，辖区面积3.3平方千米，属城乡结合型社区。社区名称得自建国前的「隆平卡」，土改后改称隆平村，1999年8月，它随沙朗镇一道划入西区办事处，2005年1月改制为居委会[1][2]。

地名由来[edit]

建国前，大天二一伙在此设卡收费，关卡叫作「隆平卡」，村落因此得名。土改时改为隆平村；当地沙田区不习惯称“村”，此后只称隆平。又因“隆”与“龙”谐音，一度写作龙平[2]。

历史沿革[edit]

1959年4月，这里成为沙蓢公社下的龙平大队。自1960年起至1969年12月，它并入中山农场，曾被称为第四耕作区。1970年1月恢复沙蓢公社，改称隆平大队。1984年2月公社改设为区，大队改称乡；1986年12月至1999年8月，它是沙朗镇的隆平管理区。1999年8月，它随沙朗镇一道划入西区办事处，名称变为隆平村民委员会，2005年1月改制为居委会[3][4]。

人口与经济[edit]

百度百科记，社区下辖一冲、二冲、四冲、政德、稻香、六冲六个社，另有中庄翠庭物业小区。截至最新统计，社区户籍为3442人，计845户，常住人口则为6442人[1]。

博雅地名网概况页则记，社区共550户，常住人口2350人；外来人口则有3000余人。原有耕地4647亩，现余828亩[3]。

辖区内现存企业418家，其中规模以上的有世宇科技、卓梅尼技术股份等[1]。境内还有金龙工业区（也叫隆平工业区），内有近40家各类工业企业[3]。2024年启动隆平路改造，总投资2200万元，拟改造2.7公里道路，目的是改善工业园区的运输通道[1]。

荣誉[edit]

2026年3月，隆平社区被认定为广东省第三批「百千万工程」典型村镇。2023年12月，社区获得2023年度中山市绿色社区的认定[2]。百度百科另载，社区在2021年列入广东省乡村治理示范村的创建单位[1]。
